Did you know that hail causes injury to multiple people every year. It may happen more rarely than some other things, but if you get caught out in a hail storm where the hail gets big enough you’ll understand its danger. If you have ever wondered how to practice safety precautions during a hail storm, we go over it here.
In A Building:
You might think hail can’t hurt you when inside, but you still need to take a few precautions. First, don’t stand near windows. Once hail reaches a sufficient size, it can break them. When the hail stops, you might want to check for leaks since it usually precedes a lightning storm. However, make sure it hasn’t just lulled so you don’t get caught outside in it.
In A Car:
If you can’t get to a building, a car will still provide protection. However, to avoid serious cosmetic damage, you will want to drive it under a bridge or another overhanging. As with the windows in your house, hail can break your car’s windshield. To prevent injuries from this, wrap the passengers up in some blankets or extra clothing.
